At 3 months... South Dakota for 5 days...Where we were the birds were spooky as it was still so warm out. We (Bob, Cheryl, Flicker and Kody) were working a fence line between winter wheat and cut corn...Flicker pointed 3 hens...on the third one, so did Kody...the fourth bird, he was ahead of mom and slammed on point, mom backed, and this rooster came up. Bob shot it and Flicker retrieved it (with help from Kody).
In Kansas at 5 months, Bob, hit a rooster with a dud shell and it went down running with no dogs around. We could not find it. We were putting things in the truck when we seen it running down the road behind us and into a wheat field (old gray wheat). We let the three big dogs out and they could not find it. We had put them out downwind of it accidently. So after about 30 minutes they were exhausted and I put them up. We started driving away when we saw a blood spot in the road and feathers. So I let Kodi out, put his nose on the blood and didn't say anything. He put his nose down and started trotting down this hard packed road. He went about 40 yards and then into the wheat. He went about 40 more and locked up. He then jumped in, grabbed the rooster, which spurred him hard, and got away again. Kodi was on it instantly, grabbed it, killed it, and brought it right to us.

From Tom (Creek at 4 months) While doing a great job for such youngster in the field. I took Creek out on his second Chukar hunting trip Friday the day after turkey. I watched him @ a distance of about 50yds point and then bust two big coveys. He played some grabass with some singles, doubles and what have you. Then he settled down and started pointing and holding the birds long enough for me to flush the birds while providing some decent shooting opportunities. Remarkably in the end we took a limit of Chuks but the last bird of the day could of been the only bird of the day and I would of been thrilled with his performance. A single that he held while I slowly made my way to him across a steep, snow covered slope. When I arrived he was lookin straight at me with his game face on so I knew he had something, I started looking in the adjacent brush when a single came out, I shot and winged it. It hit the canvas and was off running with Creek there to chase it down. He's been a riot with goofball personality. He sleeps at my feet while I type this.

Roger from 2011 last quail hunt of the year (6 months): He was one tired boy after that hunt, but he had a blast, and we went down to the lake for some water work. I thought that the cold water may slow him down, but we couldn't hardly get him out, and he did several retrieves and wanted MORE! It was fun watching his enthusiasm. Then we hunted some more before heading back home, last weekend of quail season.
